Tracking productivity remotely is sensitive. Do it wrong, and trust collapses. Do it right, and productivity improves without friction.

The first rule is transparency. Employees must know what data is collected and why. Hidden monitoring destroys morale faster than any missed target.

The second rule is scope. Tracking should focus on work-related activity, not personal behavior. Application usage, active hours, and task duration are sufficient. Screen spying and invasive surveillance are usually unnecessary.

Trust is preserved when data is used to improve workflows, not punish individuals. When employees see that insights lead to better planning and fair evaluations, resistance disappears.

Productivity tracking without trust is surveillance. Productivity tracking with transparency is management.
